Its grape variety also known as Zinfandel is a black-skinned grape which grows in California vineyards. As far as the availability is concerned, it is now available in most parts of the world in both the varieties.
As far as tasting Zinfandel is concerned, it all depends on the ripeness of the grape and fermentation process. One may get candid flavors of jam, cheery, black pepper, plum, anise, cranberry, licorice along with a bit smoky finish. This wine tastes bold as compared to its counterparts while the white one has a sweeter taste. As far as food pairings are concerned, one can pair it with pizza, burger, pasta, Mexican dishes in commonality. Formally, it also goes with thick spicy curries, pork, rich milk cheeses, and flavored vegetables.
